Finding The Cause Of The Fire In The BPOM Building, The Central Jakarta Police Satreskrim Work Hard

JAKARTA - The investigation into the fire case at the BPOM Building, Jalan Percetakan Negara, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, on Sunday night July 18 is now being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Central Jakarta Metro Police. The police are working hard to find the cause of the fire. Previously, the case was still under investigation at the Johar Baru Police level.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the Central Jakarta Police, Kompol Wisnu Wardhana, when confirmed in Jakarta, Thursday, July 22, said that based on preliminary findings, the burning room was the location for standardization of drugs and precursors of addictive substances located on the 1st floor of the BPOM Building. "What is clear is that the burned items are archives and are in the form of a computer unit. The room is a standardization room for narcotics, a precursor to addictive substances," said Wisnu as reported by Antara.

Fire Chronology

For further investigation, his party will schedule several security officers who were on duty when the fire incident occurred.

So far, the investigation is still ongoing on the initial five witnesses who are employees of the electrical installation contractor, considering that the fire occurred during the electrical panel repair process. "We will deepen the information from the witnesses at the location. We will develop and add witnesses from all security services at the time," he said.

The Forensic Laboratory Team is also still investigating the location of the fire while developing statements from witnesses.

Previously, a fire at the BPOM office occurred on the 1st floor of a building with an area of 200 square meters. The loss due to the fire, which is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, is estimated at Rp600 million.

The fire chronology began when the BPOM office was undergoing panel repairs in the East F and West F hallway buildings. "When raising the MCB, there was an explosion. BPOM security officers wanted to extinguish it because the smoke was thick. The officers were overwhelmed to extinguish it," said Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Asril Rizal.
