JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Metro Police donated hundreds of oxygen cylinders and regulators from the confiscation of evidence of crime to hospitals or health facilities in need.
Previously, investigators from the Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit revealed that the price of oxygen cylinders and regulators played a game above the normal price or the highest retail price (HET) determined by the government.
"Regarding this evidence, we will coordinate with the prosecutor in accordance with the Criminal Code that we will replace the economic value evidence for our confiscation, which we will later donate to hospitals or health facilities in need," said Deputy Head of Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Setyo Koes Heriyanto quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 15.
The evidence that was secured by the officers from the perpetrators of the crime, namely 166 oxygen cylinders with various sizes ranging from one cubic meter, 1.5 cubic meters and two cubic meters; and 126 oxygen regulators.
Setyo explained that these oxygen cylinders and regulators are items that are urgently needed by the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Therefore, the handling of evidence will be delegated to the prosecutor's office, so that it can help COVID-19 patients in hospitals and other health facilities.
Previously, two suspects were arrested by officers for selling oxygen cylinders and regulators at twice the market average price.
The suspect's motive for playing a price game was because the profit received was very large, considering that the two items were health support tools that were desperately needed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The profit received from the sale of one oxygen is quite tempting because only a few weeks, at the end of June and early July, the turnover received is around Rp. 300 million," said Setyo.
