South Kalimantan Police Reveals Smuggling Of 35 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From The Golden Triangle

BANJARMASIN - The South Kalimantan Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate team revealed the smuggling of 35 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from the "Golden Triangle" (The Golden Triangle) area which includes Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos.

"After being detected by drugs obtained from foreign networks, we are working with Bareskrim Polri for their development," said South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Andi Rian R Djajadi in Banjarmasin as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 14.

Two perpetrators were arrested in this large number of narcotics trafficking, namely the initials MR (26) a resident of Banjarmasin and MZ (33) a resident of East Java.

The Regional Police Chief said this network used a new route to supply methamphetamine to Kalimantan. If usually it enters by land at the Malaysian-Indonesian border, but now it continues from Sumatra to Java Island and is brought to Banjarmasin via Surabaya, East Java.

"I have ordered to be able to develop this case in the crime of money laundering (TPPU), in addition to the main crime of narcotics," said the Kapolda who appreciated the performance of its members in uncovering narcotics trafficking.

Meanwhile, the Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Tri Wahyudi, explained the chronology of the disclosure, starting with information from the public that there was a large number of methamphetamine plans to enter Banjarmasin at the end of March 2023.

Following up on this information, he immediately formed a team led by the Head of Sub-Directorate II of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police AKBP Zaenal Arifien under the supervision and control of the Deputy Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police AKBPISI Saiser.

The results of the three-month investigation, officers finally managed to arrest MR and MZ when making a transaction of 3.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine on Jalan Veteran Banjarmasin.

Then it was developed to the house occupied by MZ on Pramuka Street, Melati Complex, Banjarmasin, where 32 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and processing equipment mixed with methamphetamine and weighing equipment were found to record drug transactions.

Tri revealed the trick of the suspect MZ re-circling methamphetamine to produce the best quality. The trick is to mix every one kilogram of good quality methamphetamine with 10 ounces of bad JUSTification through various other mixed materials so that narcotics get better.

The legal entanglement imposed by the police against the two suspects is Article 114 paragraph 2 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a minimum of six years and a maximum of twenty years.

All confiscated evidence was then destroyed today, attended by South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor together with Forkopimda who at the same time presented awards for the Kapolda and the South Kalimantan Police's Narcotics Directorate for the successful disclosure of international network narcotics.
