JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated that the government continues to focus on handling illegal Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) to prevent PMI victims in other countries.
"Yes, right now, the government is preventing illegal PMIs through human trafficking. Therefore, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, including the police, is conducting strict supervision to suppress this from happening so that there are no victims," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 8.
In addition to handling and preventing illegal PMIs from trafficking in persons, said the Vice President, the Government also continues to prioritize improving welfare in areas with high poverty rates, which are generally places where PMIs come from.
"The government directs potential areas for illegal PMIs, areas with high poverty rates. Therefore, this must be a concern, one of which is in addition to Java as well as in NTT. Now, we will try to reduce poverty, we prioritize it," explained the Vice President.
