Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari revealed that prospective legislative candidates (caleg) elected in the 2024 General Election are required to submit the State Official Wealth Report (LHKPN).

This is in accordance with the instructions of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri who asked the KPU to oblige legislative candidates to report their assets.

"In the 2019 General Election, in KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 20 of 2018 there is a provision that one of the requirements for candidacy is to submit a certificate of having reported LHKPN to the KPK," Hasyim said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 24.

Based on PKPU Number 20 of 2018, he continued, LHKPN is indeed one of the requirements for candidates. For this reason, the LHKPN will be asked by the KPU when the candidate has been elected.

"If we read in more detail at PKPU Number 20 of 2018, hand it over not during the registration of candidates yesterday, but later when determining the elected candidate so that if you look at the last election, the submission is not during the registration of candidates, but when you want to determine the elected candidate," he added.

He explained that the election results were divided into 3 types, namely vote acquisition, seat acquisition, and elected candidates.

"Because the fulfillment of the certificate document that has reported the LHKPN is for the determination of the elected candidate, we will regulate this article in the KPU Regulation concerning the Determination of Election Results, namely the acquisition of votes for the votes for the elected seats and candidates," said Hasyim.

According to Hasyim, the KPU has explained this to the KPK since the letter was sent on May 16, 2023.

"This has become the KPU's commitment from the start and now we have communicated directly with the KPK leadership about it," he added.

Previously, the KPK emphasized that every legislative candidate would hand over LHKPN. If not, then there are consequences that they cannot be appointed if they have been elected.

This was conveyed by the Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring of the KPK Pahala Nainggolan. He conveyed that his party was coordinating with KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari regarding the obligation to hand over LHKPN. LHKPN data must later be submitted to the elected candidate to the KPK after the vote is carried out.

"This is different from before 2018, the Numbers 20 and 21, which have mentioned that if you register, you will be asked for LHKPN, otherwise you may not be inaugurated," said Pahala.

The obligation to report assets for Baulaleg has been regulated in KPU Regulation (PKPU) 20/2018 concerning the Candidacy of Members of the DPR, Provincial DPRD, and Regency/City DPRD and in PKPU 21/2018 concerning the Second Amendment to PKPU 14/2018.

Pahala said the KPU had given punishment if the elected candidate did not want to hand over the LHKPN. This is in accordance with the PKPU. The new regulations state that the inauguration will not be carried out even though it has won.

"This is the person who has been proposed, there will be a mention, you must enter the LHKPN if not, you will not be inaugurated. The inauguration will be around October 2024," said Pahala.

The submission of LHKPN will later be accompanied by a population identification number (NIK) and may not use a nickname. The goal is that there are no mistakes in asset ownership, especially in this election, many candidates will have an "entertainment" world background.

It doesn't stop there, said Pahala, in the year of filling out the LHKPN, it will be connected to a digital system connected to the NIK. Unlike five years ago, this year most likely physical receipts are no longer needed.
