JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin said that his party was inviting the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) to join the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KIR).
"Meanwhile, PSI is embracing non-parliamentary PSI," said Cak Imin on Jalan Tegalan Number 27, East Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, May 11.
Previously, the Golkar Party and PSI agreed to encourage the birth of a major coalition of political parties in the 2024 General Election.
"PSI is here to participate in encouraging a major coalition and this shows that the grand coalition is becoming more relevant and better to be encouraged," said Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto after receiving an elite PSI visit in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Regarding the grand coalition, Airlangga said that many discussions had been held with Gerindra General Chair Prabowo Subianto.
"Prabowo as the leader of the KIR Coalition and I from the Golkar Party and representing KIB continue to communicate to build solidity from a large coalition," said Airlangga.
The big coalition is the idea of merging the United Indonesia Coalition and Coalition (KIB). The KIR coalition is a combination of the Gerindra Party and PKB, while KIB is a combination of the Golkar Party, PAN, and PPP. The proposal for a major coalition was first raised after President Jokowi met the leaders of the current government coalition political parties.
Furthermore, five political party leaders held a meeting at the PAN DPP Office, Sunday (2/4), namely Prabowo Subianto, Muhaimin Iskandar, Airlangga Hartarto, Zulkifli Hasan, and Muhammad Mardiono.
Airlangga emphasized that the grand coalition is open to all parties to join, both parties in parliament and those that have never been in parliament.
Meanwhile, PSI General Chair Giring Ganesha hopes that his party will be involved and contribute to the process of building and prospering the Indonesian people.
"We are ready to open the door of communication and collaboration with a major coalition," said Giring.
