BATAM - The Batam Special Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP) Office investigated the findings of 10 sacks containing black oil waste on Melayu Beach, Nongsa District, Batam City, Friday (5/5).

Head of Section (Kasi) Gakkum Special KSOP Batam Rahmat Nasution said as many as 10 sacks of black oil waste found were suspected to be part of the black oil waste that polluted the beach some time ago.

"We have reported it to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) on these findings and are currently being investigated," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 6.

He said his party was still looking for facts and information regarding the findings of these 10 sacks of black oil waste. Are these 10 sacks of waste dumped from the sea or from the ground.

However, based on previous findings of black oil waste, it is possible that this waste was dumped from the middle of the sea using sacks.

He hopes that local governments and other agencies can continue to work together to resolve this case.

"Local governments must be more active in making joint efforts to take precautions by involving elements related to KSOP, Polair, TNI AL, KLHK, and the community," he said.

Meanwhile, at the location, the Community Empowerment Agency (LPM) Nongsa Khairul Bahri explained that the findings of the 10 sacks of black oil waste were first discovered by fishermen and reported them to the authorities.

"We found several sacks, about 10 sacks of rather dense waste," he said.

The waste, he said, looks almost the same as the black oil waste that was found some time ago. However, it has a denser texture and feels hot when exposed to the skin.

"This seems the same as yesterday, the content seems almost similar. The aroma is almost the same. But when it hits the hand, it will feel hot," he said.
