Gibran Responds To Rumors His Name Is Related To Cawapres: Age Is Not Enough

President Joko Widodo's first son and Mayor of Surakarta, Central Java, Gibran Rakabuming admitted that he did not meet the age requirements to become a presidential candidate or vice presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

Gibran said this was in response to rumors related to his plan to accompany the Minister of Defense and General Chair of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election.

"My mouth (I) is not enough," said Gibran, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 5.

Gibran said that the vice-presidential affairs are only rumors, so there is no need to be overreacted.

"Kanrumor, I have answered that the age is not enough," he added.

In addition, Gibran also admitted that he had not been in politics for too long, so he felt he still had to learn a lot.

"The science is not enough. I still need a lot to learn. It's only been two years (so Mayor of Surakarta)," he said.

In addition, according to him, being president or vice president is not an easy task.

"It's a tough task, you don't imagine (it's easy)," he said.

Previously, in the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1444 H, Prabowo Subianto visited President Joko Widodo's residence in Surakarta. On that occasion, Gibran also welcomed Prabowo who came with his son, Didit Hediprasetyo.

However, the two agreed to convey that the meeting did not discuss politics.

President Jokowi also dismissed the suggestion of a number of people who proposed their sons to accompany Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election.

Jokowi said there are at least two reasons why Gibran has not been realistic about entering the 2024 presidential election market.

"First, age. Second, only two years as mayor, the logical thing is," said Jokowi.
