Bandung Police Chief Kombes Pol. Budi Sartono, Monday, said Brenton, who claimed to be a convert, was examined accompanied by legal advisors.

"For these foreigners, based on their statements, Muslims, converts; and two days ago, we named them as suspects and immediately carried out an examination of the suspect accompanied by legal advisors, then we contacted the Australian consulate to assist with assistance," said Budi in Bandung, West Java, Monday.
Based on the examination of the suspect and the available evidence, Budi continued, the police have detained the foreigner concerned at the Bandung Police Headquarters.
"And the examination continues, we have also asked for information from expert witnesses. However, the motive has not yet been revealed," he added.
The motive has not been revealed because the Brenton suspect has yet to admit his actions. However, Budi emphasized that the legal process against the case was still ongoing.
"Therefore, we are still completing what are the existing witnesses to be able to fulfill this case, because there is CCTV evidence, other witness evidence, and we will complete the expert witnesses," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 1.
Police teamed up with Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Tangerang, Banten, arrested Mchartur Brenton Craig Abas Abdullah, on Friday night (28/4), at around 23.00 WIB.
Brenton was arrested because he was previously known to have spat on the imam of the Al Muhajir Mosque Muhammad Basri Anwar in Sekejati, Buah Batu, Bandung City, West Java.
