The Number Of Tourists Increases, The Ministry Of Transportation Tightens Monitoring Of Shipping Safety At Kali Adem Port

Entering the second day of Eid al-Fitr celebration 1444 Hijri, Kali Adem Port, North Jakarta is known to have been crowded with residents traveling to the Thousand Islands, North Jakarta. Based on data per day, from the Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP) Class IV Muara Angke Office, there were 19 ships and 3,030 passengers sailing from Kaliadem Port to the Thousand Islands, North Jakarta. "In total, there are 19 ships consisting of 17 traditional ships and two Transportation Service ships operated carrying a total of 3,030 passengers on the second day of Eid al-Fitr. For that, I directly review the supervision of shipping safety aspects at Kali Adem," said the Director General of Sea Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation Arif Toha, in a written statement, Sunday, April 23. During the visit, Arif reminded all passengers regarding the importance of prioritizing shipping safety, especially using life jackets throughout their voyage to the Thousand Islands. During the Eid holiday, Kaliadem Port, which serves routes to several islands in the Thousand Islands, is one of people's favorite tourist destinations. "During this Lebaran holiday, many people are on vacation to the Thousand Islands, we serve it with the maximum of the people who will travel, but the safety aspect must still be prioritized," said Arif. Furthermore, Arif reminded Syahbandar, stakeholders and officers in the field to ensure that safety aspects have been met, such as ships that have been declared seaworthy, life jackets according to the ship's capacity, the number of passengers who do not exceed capacity, and ensure the weather supports sailing. "I ask Syahbandar and other related officers not to be careless with safety, I ask a number of safety aspects to be really considered, both the facilities and infrastructure," he said. It didn't stop there, he also reminded people to buy tickets online to avoid queues at ticket purchase counters, and to ensure that passengers can be transported because they have obtained tickets to sail. "And for shipping such as Kali Adem to the Thousand Islands, passengers are required to use life jackets on board. This is a form of passenger awareness that shipping safety is a shared responsibility," said Arif. During the review, Arif also distributed life jackets to ship captains and ship agents, as well as distribution of parcels to departing passengers.

On this occasion, Director General Arif also visited the Lebaran Sea Transportation Post in Muara Angke and encouraged officers who monitored shipping conditions during the Lebaran transportation period and continued to provide services to the community.
