Pre-season Match Results, Rangers Vs Madrid 2-1

JAKARTA - Spanish giants Real Madrid were beaten by Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers 1-2 in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox Stadium, Sunday local time.

Rodrygo Goes first brought Real Madrid ahead eight minutes into the game. Meanwhile, Rangers had to wait until the second half to reply through Fashion Sakala.

After Los Blancos were forced to finish the game with 10 men due to Nacho Fernandez receiving a second yellow card, the hosts used it to seal the win through Cedric Itten's goal, as quoted by Antara from the Rangers official website report.

From the starting eleven that Carlo Ancelotti revealed for Real Madrid, there are only a few first-team names such as Rodrigo, Isco, Lucas Vazquez, and Marcelo.

Martin Odegaard and Luka Jovic, who returned from their respective loan spells, had the opportunity to convince Ancelotti in the race for a place in the Real Madrid first team.

Match statistics on the Opta page noted, Rangers appeared aggressive by releasing 21 attempted shots throughout the match, eight of which met the target.

On the other hand, Real Madrid looked like a toothless tiger. Apart from Rodrygo's goal, none of the shots were on target again from the five attempts they made over the full 90 minutes.

For Rangers, this victory is like an injection of confidence to welcome the 150th anniversary of the club's founding in March next year.

The victory is also clearly a big improvement compared to the last meeting between the two teams which ended with a 7-0 scoreline for Real Madrid in the two legs of the 1963/64 Champions Cup pre-elimination phase.
