JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin performed the Eid prayer at the official Menteng residence, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, July 20, with his beloved wife Wury Ma'ruf Amin and the limited apparatus of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres).
Vice President Ma'ruf acted as imam in the Eid prayer and the khatib was carried out by the President Director of the Professional Certification Institute (LSP) of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Aminudin Yakub.
Ma'ruf Amin carried out limited Eid prayers at the official residence of the Vice President to minimize the spread of COVID-19 pandemic cases during the implementation of the emergency community activity restrictions (PPKM).
This is in accordance with the Circular Letter of the Minister of Religion Number 17 of 2021 concerning the Temporary Elimination of Worship in Places of Worship, Takbiran Nights, Eid Prayers and Technical Instructions for the Implementation of Sacrifice in 1422 H in the Emergency PPKM Area.
The vice president invited all Muslims to follow the government's advice in carrying out a series of Eid al-Adha worship activities at their respective homes.
"I ask that later, in accordance with the provisions of (SE Menag) do not gather in crowds, including one of them doing the Eid prayer, both in the mosque and outside the mosque, until the situation is possible again," said the Vice President in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 20, as reported by Antara.
The Vice President emphasized that the emergency PPKM policy and the SE Menag did not aim to prevent Muslims from worshiping in mosques but to protect all Indonesian people from the transmission of COVID-19.
"For this Eid al-Adha, we will continue to carry out worship but pay attention to health protocols and take care of the human soul; therefore, we have to do it at home, take takbir at home," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.
