Handling COVID-19 Not Controlled, Observer: Minister Of Health Is More Fit To Be Deputy Minister Of BUMN

JAKARTA - Communicologist Emrus Sihombing believes that the Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin is better off being repositioned as Deputy Minister of SOEs. The reason is, until today there has been no significant progress in handling COVID-19.

"He is more suited to the position of Deputy Minister than Minister of Health because of his scientific background and there are no signs that the handling of COVID-19 will be under control," Emrus said in his statement, Monday, July 19.

According to him, improving health services needs to be a serious concern of the Minister of Health. Because, if health services are likely to have problems in the future, then public trust in the Ministry of Health will certainly decline.

"This is a consequence of the public's disappointment in the health management by the Ministry of Health," he said.

Emrus also suggested that the Minister of Health provide a good communication strategy to raise public awareness to strictly adhere to health protocols.

"This is the ultimate weapon for fighting upstream before tracing, testing, and treating (3T)," he said.
