Noisy About Emergency PPKM And Extended PPKM, Puan Maharani Asks The Government To Evaluate

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, asked the Government to submit the results of the evaluation of the Emergency PPKM 3-20 July 2021 before deciding to impose an extended PPKM (Restrictions on Community Activities) due to the COVID-19 pandemic Because according to him, the results of the evaluation are important for the public to know as the party who will most feel the impact of the policy.

In addition, said Puan, the Government must also explain what the positive impacts of Emergency PPKM have been felt so far. "Even though the positive impact is still small, it must be conveyed so that people believe we are on the right path", said Puan Maharani, Saturday, July 17.

Community Trust

Puan reminded that building public trust in the government through good communication, at this time is the most crucial thing so that the next Emergency PPKM can run effectively. The government, said Puan, should not waste the people's trust.

"It is necessary to build public trust in the government. That there is a real impact of this Emergency PPKM even though cases are still fluctuating. This will increase community compliance during emergency PPKM including its extension", explained the former Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture.

Not only evaluation continued Puan, but the government also needs to explain the steps for the next Emergency PPKM. For example, there will be an accurate monitoring system based on digital technology per region, the implementation of more massive testing to determine the next step, adding more hospital rooms and self-isolation as well as boosting the implementation of vaccinations.

Puan also assessed that the budget absorption for handling COVID-19 was still low to save the people. This, he said, should not have happened when the safety of the people really became the basis for the movement of the policymakers. "The refocusing of the budget must be directed at saving people's lives in an emergency like now", said Puan.

Therefore, Puan added, the budget for handling COVID-19 needs to be absorbed immediately for spending on urgent matters. Such as the opening of an emergency hospital and telemedicine services for self-isolation patients. "In a situation like this, the spirit of Gotong Royong (teamwork) must be exemplified by the central and regional governments, without having to wait for each other, let alone throw responsibilities", said Puan Maharani after explaining about Emergency PPKM and Extension PPKM.
