パプア警察署長:スージー航空パイロットの釈放に向けた交渉が最大化される

JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri emphasized that currently his party is maximizing negotiations so that the KKB will release the pilot hostage of Susi Air, a New Zealand national.

Fakhiri confirmed various efforts made by the TNI-Polri to save Susi Air Pilot Philip Mark Mehterns who were held hostage by the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya.

"I have spoken with various parties about this negotiation process, including the church, which includes the Council of Churches and Bishops so that as much as possible we can negotiate with the Egianus Kogoya group so that the pilot is released," explained Fakhiri in Jayapura as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 25.

The Papua Police Chief admitted that although negotiations were being carried out, the Cartenz Peace Task Force was currently preparing appropriate, decisive and measurable law enforcement steps.

He emphasized that negotiations can be done with anyone, because from the start it had been carried out with the Nduga Regional Government in collaboration with the police chief. Including Komnas HAM who offered to help.

His party has also sent a special team that seeks to negotiate and facilitate all parties who want to assist in the release of the pilot who is being held hostage by the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya.

"I hope the negotiations will bring good results, because we are giving the Egianus group the opportunity to return the pilots through good negotiation channels, including assistance from the Kingmi Church which will later send their trusted people to negotiate," explained Fakhiri.

The KKB led by Egianus Kogoya has been charming by the Susi Air Pilot's hostage Philip Mark Mehrtens since 7 February shortly after landing his plane at Paro airport.

Egianus Kogoya and his group also burned the plane driven by Philip.
