Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi ensures the readiness of flight arrangements at Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo, both VVIP flights, VIPs and regular flights can be carried out properly.
This readiness was carried out ahead of the peak return of the ASEAN 42nd Summit delegation in Labuan Bajo on Thursday (11/5).
"We continue to coordinate intensively with various parties such as ground handling, immigration, and other related parties so that flights at the peak of VVIP's return and VIP as well as the delegation of the ASEAN Summit tomorrow can run smoothly," said the Minister of Transportation, quoted from a written statement reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.
Based on data from the Directorate of Air Transportation, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation as many as 12 flights will take VVIP and VIP passengers from Labuan Bajo on Thursday (11/5).
The flight is scheduled to dispatch delegations of Brunei Darusalam, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Timor Leste, and Thailand from 08.45 WITA to 16.20 WITA.
The Minister of Transportation again appealed to people who will travel using regular flights to and from Labuan Bajo to pay attention to the flight schedule at the peak of the delegation's return on Thursday (11/5).
Previously, flight arrangements during the implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit were stated in the Circular (SE) of the Director General of Air Transportation Number SE 6 of 2023 concerning Aviation Operational Regulations During the Implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in 2023 at Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo which was issued on April 18, 2023 and took effect from 7 to 13 May 2023.
Regulations are made to balance and ensure the fulfillment of safety, security and smoothness aspects of five types of flights, namely VVIP, VIP, military, charter, private and regular.

The Ministry of Transportation has also alerted 25 minibuses (Hiace) and driver crews that can be used to escort delegates and support teams to Komodo Airport.
The shuttle fleet has been operating from 6 to 12 May 2023, from 06.00 WITA to 08.00 WITA to support the mobility of delegates, support teams, and the media.
The vehicle toured the airport and locations for organizing the ASEAN Summit and hotels where the delegates were staying with arrival times of 10-15 minutes.
