Defendant AKBP Dody Files Appeal: Justice Exists, I Was Sacrificed

JAKARTA - Former Bukittinggi Police Chief AKBP Dody Prawiranegara was sentenced to 17 years in prison in a case of drug trafficking of methamphetamine. However, he firmly appealed the decision.

"I will appeal," said Dody after the trial at the West Jakarta District Court courtroom, Wednesday, May 10.

Not only stating the appeal, Dody also stated that the reason behind it was because he wanted to prove that there was still justice.

"I will prove justice exists," he said.

The appeal submitted also aims to inform all members of the National Police about him being deliberately sacrificed in the alleged case.

"I will tell all members of the National Police, we give examples, me, that I was sacrificed. Thank you," said Dody.

AKBP Dody Prawiranegara was declared involved in the circulation of methamphetamine which is evidence. Da was sentenced to 17 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 2 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

The verdict is lighter than the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU). Originally, AKBP Dody Prawiranegara was charged with 20 years in prison.

In this case, AKBP Dody Prawiranegara is said to have carried out the order of Inspector General Teddy Minahasa to set aside evidence of methamphetamine from the results of the disclosure of the case to be circulated.

The Bukittinggi Police initially wanted to destroy 40 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, but Inspector General Teddy Minahasa allegedly ordered to exchange five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine for tawas.

The methamphetamine was brought to Jakarta to be allegedly circulated again by involving Kasranto, Linda, Arif, and former member of the Muara Baru Police, Aiptu Janto Parluhut Situmorang.

However, the embezzlement of drug evidence was finally uncovered by a series of disclosures of narcotics cases by the Central Jakarta Metro Police and Polda Metro Jaya.

A total of 1.7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine has been successfully circulated while the remaining 3.3 kilograms have been confiscated by officers.
