The North Sumatra Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dit) team and the Interpol Division of the National Police Headquarters arrested a three-year fugitive in Penang, Malaysia.

The fugitive or wanted list (DPO) is registered in the red notice on behalf of Adil Anwar alias Atek (73)

"The North Sumatra Police in collaboration with the Interpol Division of the National Police Headquarters has succeeded in securing the DPO registered in the name of AA alias AT, in Malaysia," said Director of Criminal Investigation at the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Sumaryono, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.

Sumaryono said the DPO had been issued since 2020.

"Two weeks ago we were informed by the Malaysian Royal Police (PDM) that the fugitive had been secured on behalf of AA," he said.

According to him, the suspect registered for the red notice Number: 2023/133936 interpol world.

The arrest of AA alias Atek was based on police report Number 44 on January 10, 2020.

Suspect AA is suspected of falsifying a 2.6 hectare land certificate in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra with a loss of Rp26 billion.

Kombes Sumaryono said, apart from suspect AA alias Atek, investigators first arrested two other suspects.

The two suspects have been handed over to the prosecutor, while the suspect AA files will soon be transferred to the Prosecutor's Office.

During his time on the run since 2020, the suspect in the land certificate fraud case in Simalungun Regency has always moved.

"We moved to Malaysia and Singapore and finally we arrested them in Malaysia. After the arrest, suspect AA alias Atek was immediately detained at the North Sumatra Police," said Sumaryono.
