The Batu Tulis Palace itself is located on Jalan Batutulis, South Bogor District, Bogor, West Java. This palace is not far from the Batu Tulis inscription, the inscription of the Pajajaran Kingdom.

The building complex is actually named Hing Puri Bima Cakti and is currently surrounded by residents' villages.

The Batu Tulis Palace, which stands on an area of 3.8 ha, is also surrounded by a white wall fence.

According to historical records, the construction of the building complex was carried out after the visit of a volcano expert named Van Riebeeck in 1702.

At that time, Abraham Van Riebeeck was assigned by the colonial government of the Dutch East Indies in Batavia (now Jakarta) to check the condition of Buitenzog (Bogor) after the eruption of Mount Salak in 1699.

He noted that the mud caused by the eruption of Mount Salak had blocked the flow of the Ciliwung River. Therefore, he then cleaned the blockage because the Ciliwung River was a water source for the residents of Batavia.

Van Riebeeck was then invited to build a resting place to monitor Mount Salak's activities. The building complex, which is currently the forerunner of the Batu Tulis Palace.

The place is not far from the location of the Batu Tulis Inscription which is believed to be a relic of the Pakuan Pajajaran Kingdom.

Then, in the 1960s, President Soekarno bought the land around the complex and built a building with RM Soedarsono as an architect.

After Soekarno died, the management of the Batu Tulis Palace was taken over by the New Order government.

Furthermore, in the administration of the late President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), the management of the Batu Tulis Palace was handed back to Soekarno's heirs.

Regarding the place where Batu wrote, Megawati often used the place to hold political meetings with a number of public figures, including on May 15, 2009 (Megawati and Prabowo Meeting), October 22, 2017 (Megawati and Jokowi Meeting), February 20, 20, 2018 (Megawati and Jokowi Meeting).
