The Voice Of The Former Military Is Broken, Gibran Sets A Record

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan responded to the issue of impeachment of Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka conveyed by the TNI Retired Forum. According to him, the parties who are fussing over this are villagers.

"Ah, what is that. We have to be united, that's all now. This is a world situation like this, it's noisy, that's how the village is," said Luhut at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday, May 5.

Luhut said that all parties should fully support the Prabowo-Gibran government, especially in the midst of uncertain global dynamics. Responding to the issue of impeachment from the retired TNI against Gibran Rakabuming Raka, it is considered by the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Herman Khaeron as part of the political dynamics as a manifestation of the aspirations of the people.

Aspirations are normal and must be respected. But of course there are legal processes and laws and regulations that must be passed," said Herman at the headquarters of the Democratic Party, Jalan Proclamation, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

Even so, he emphasized, as long as there are no violations or mistakes committed by the vice president, there is no basis for following up on the proposal for dismissal.

Therefore, the Democrats did not take the issue seriously and chose to focus on other agendas. In addition, Herman also emphasized that his party wanted to contribute to the success of President Prabowo Subianto's administration.

"Democrats are better off talking about other things about the confiscation law, we will do the surgery. Then how to make SOEs healthy, how to improve the national economy, that's what we are talking about here," he explained.

First In History

The existence of divisions among former military officials related to the issue of impeachment of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is the first thing in Indonesia. Among the former top military officials, there are those who defend and some are criticizing it. Political communication expert Hendri Satrio said that usually retired TNI journalists usually show a relatively solid attitude in responding to national political dynamics, but Gibran's young presence and is considered to have minimal experience in creating sharp differences within them.

"Purnawirawan is divided, there are those who defend, some are critical. This is the first time this has happened in Indonesia," said Hensat in his X account quoted by VOI, Thursday, May 8.

The division of former military officials was mentioned by Hensat, for retired people who expressed full support for Gibran, considering him a symbol of regeneration and involvement of the younger generation in politics. But on the other hand, not a few also criticized the political steps of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo alias Jokowi, who was considered too encouraging his son to strategic positions in government.

"This is the first time this has happened in Indonesia, there is a division because of the position of the Vice President. Duh, My Country, My Country of Love," concluded Hensat in a tone of concern.

The Retired TNI-Polri Association in which there is General (Ret.) Agum Gumelar to General (Ret.) Wiranto expressed his attitude in supporting the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government.

Political observer Rocky Gerung said the issue of impeachment that blew and broke the voices of former military officials was part of the legitimacy of a flawed process in the constitution. "So it is impossible for the government to control public memory," Rocky said via his YouTube channel, Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Rocky assessed that Prabowo is working hard to build a new approach in the economy, such as a free lunch program and simplification of fertilizer distribution for farmers. Rocky said that the public appreciates these efforts, but still maintains concerns about political legitimacy. "Not against Prabowo's economic policies, but against legitimacy which is still considered flawed, namely Gibran," he said.

The Demands Are Measurable

The demands submitted by hundreds of retired soldiers who are members of the Army Retired Association (PPAD) have asked Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to be immediately dismissed from his position as not leaving the Pancasila ideology and the 1945 Constitution.

Former Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) AM Hendropriyono emphasized that the demands submitted by hundreds of retired soldiers had been measured and did not come out of the ideology or rules adopted by this nation.

"The demands are measurable and do not leave the Pancasila rules and the 1945 Constitution," he said.

This mustachious man added that the demands of hundreds of retired soldiers are part of aspirations. And in the democratic rules adopted by this nation, the delivery of aspirations is not prohibited and legal.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Special Advisor for Politics and Security, General TNI (Ret.) Wiranto emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto really understands the eight demands made by the Army Retired Association.

According to Wiranto, for a Prabowo, the eight demands submitted by PPAD are problems that are not easily resolved quickly. Therefore, President Prabowo needs to study these demands first. In addition, Wiranto emphasized that eight demands from PPAD did not immediately become a decision by President Prabowo Subianto.

"Indonesia has a Trias Politica system that separates the Judicial, Executive, and Legislative institutions. This system has limited the president's power. There are many areas that President Prabowo must consider before making a decision. Therefore, if President Prabowo's response does not respond, the statement is wrong," he said.
