Steam Releases More Than 18 Thousand New Games During 2024

JAKARTA - Based on SteamDB data, throughout 2024, Steam has released 18,969 new games. This number beat the previous year's record of 14,311 games released over one year.

Of the total 18 thousand games, 14,888 games are limited games and 3,937 others are regular games. Finite games are titles that have limited profile customization features because they do not meet certain criteria such as the number of player bases and the number of copies sold.

Thus, it can be interpreted that most of the games released this year do not meet expectations, and many also fail.

In addition, 2024 is also the year with the most number of games sold on Steam since 2019. Although every year Steam experiences an increase in the number of game sales, especially at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Furthermore, Steam also experienced an increase in the number of active players with around 40 million players simultaneously in this year's Christmas holiday season, an increase of 8 million players compared to last year.

Meanwhile, Steam has ended its support for Windows 7 and 8 or longer since January 1, 2024. Thus, players must update their Windows OS to newer ones.
