JAKARTA - Since a few days ago, Amazon started testing a humanoid robot called Digit. This robot is planned to replace human employees in order to provide the best service for customers.

Digit is a robot that has arms and legs and is able to move, grasp, and operate objects like humans. An approach that Amazon desperately needs.

Amazon  states that the company already has 750,000 Digit robots working collaboratively with humans. The role of humans is still needed to identify problems that Digit does.

Amazon's Head of Robotics Technology Tye Brady revealed to TechCrunch that his company is indeed interested in walking robots like Digit. According to him, “It was very interesting, the ability to move in different terrain was interesting.”

However, they still need to test Digit to find out whether the work produced is good or bad. After all, Digit had a big influence in improving their company's performance.

Brady said that Amazon will do a lot of interesting work with Digit. They plan to use Digit to identify, manipulate, and sort packages in one system.

For your information, the Digit robot used by Amazon is the product of Agility Robotics. Digit is said to be the first human-like multipurpose robot created for logistics work.

With a height of 175 centimeters and a weight of 65 kilograms, Digit is able to handle mass material production in warehouses and assist with distribution, such as Digit's duties at Amazon.

This robot, which can work for 16 to 24 hours, moves like a human. Digits have two legs that can be used to go up and down stairs so that their work will not be hampered.
