Google Presents Ability To Download Auto Podcasts On YouTube Music

JAKARTA - Following the news that Google Podcast will be closed next year, YouTube Music now has a new ability to download podcasts automatically.

To enable it, visit the event page, then tap the settings via the gear icon, then select 'Save to the library.'

After that slide the "Active auto download" switch, and YouTube Music will soon download the latest episode to your device to listen to offline.

However, on YouTube Music there is no automatic delete option like in Google Podcast. Google Podcast has a 'Delete episode that has been completed' preference that allows you to determine the duration of automatic deletion: After 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, and 90 days.

Based on a report from 9to5google, the ability to download auto for podcasts with YouTube Music is present on YouTube Music version 6.21 on Android and iOS.

A few days ago, Google decided to shut down the Google Podcast service. In a statement, Google said that by 2024 they would invest more in YouTube Music and direct users to the platform.

This investment will be developed considering that 23 percent of weekly podcast listeners in the United States (US) admit to listening to podcasts via YouTube. This figure is far from Google Podcast users who are only 4 percent.

On the other hand, when Google decided to shut down its podcast service, Apple actually rolled out many updates to the Apple Podcast. For example, simplified queues, interactive widgets, search filters with more detailed results, StandBy, and the ability to connect their subscriptions to some of their favorite apps.
