NASA Will Hold Teleconference to Discuss Annular Solar Eclipse

JAKARTA - The United States Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will hold a media teleconference on Tuesday, September 26 to discuss the upcoming annular eclipse.

NASA will hold this teleconference at 4.00 p.m. EDT or 03.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on September 27. This teleconference will discuss how to safely watch the annular solar eclipse on October 14.

Through its official release, NASA explained that a ring eclipse or ring of fire is a solar eclipse when the moon is near the part of its orbit farthest from the earth. With this distance, the moon will not completely block the sun.

Therefore, the visible part of the sun will show a ring-like shape. This annular eclipse was only visible in a narrow band stretching from Oregon to Texas as well as parts of Mexico, Central America, and South America.

In addition, people in the United States, Puerto Rico, and parts of Alaska and Hawaii can see a partial solar eclipse when the new moon covers part of the sun.

NASA emphasizes that seeing the peak of the annular eclipse with the naked eye is very dangerous. Therefore, all observers use special eye protection when observing the annular eclipse directly.

NASA provides an alternative for people who cannot see the annular solar eclipse. On October 14, NASA will broadcast a live ring solar eclipse on all NASA social media.
