JAKARTA - Meta Platform Inc., parent company from Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, announced the expansion of its verification services for businesses. The service was originally launched for individuals this year. But will now be available to business owners.

Meta Verified provides various benefits to verified account owners, including ticks and higher ratings in search results, faster access to customer support channels, and proactive protection of identity fraud. The company also plans to feature Meta Verified Business in recommendations within Facebook and Instagram apps.

To obtain verified status, customers, including businesses, must go through the identity verification process. This means business customers must provide evidence of their links to the business, for example through the associated phone number or email domain. In addition, Meta requires customers to enable two-factor authentication and meet the minimum level of activity.

Meta verification service prices will be different between individuals and businesses. For single accounts on Facebook or Instagram, the fee is 27.99 US dollars (IDR 460 thousand) per month for registration via mobile devices or 21.99 US dollars (IDR 337 thousand) if done via the web.

Business owners who register via the web can purchase verification for Instagram and Facebook at once at a cost of US$34.99 (Rp. 537 thousand) per month. This price is much higher than the Meta verification fee for individuals, which ranges from US$12 to 15 per month.

Meta also plans to bring this verification service to WhatsApp, with several additional advantages such as support for customer chats on multiple devices and the ability to create a business page that will appear in web-based search results. However, the cost for verified status on WhatsApp has not been announced.

In-app payment services on WhatsApp will also be extended to traders in India. The app will support credit and debit card payments, as well as other apps such as Maritimepay.

Meta also introduced a feature called "WhatsApp flows" that allows businesses to create special features such as direct engagement bookings from in-app chats. This feature will be available to WhatsApp Business users in "coming weeks."

This announcement shows Meta continues to strive to improve its services for business users on its various platforms.
