JAKARTA – Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Cisco, on Friday, September 15, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Thailand, to expand cyber security training in Indonesia.

It is hoped that this training will be able to meet the increasing need for digital talent, to protect data and computer networks from cyber attacks and data leaks.

This new partnership will introduce Cisco Networking Academy cybersecurity training classes into Indosat's IDCamp program, an educational initiative designed to promote inclusive digital literacy in Indonesia.

By signing this MoU, the two companies aim to train 50,000 IDCamp participants in the first year, and up to 200,000 people in the next three years for communities in disadvantaged areas. The first cybersecurity class is expected to take place in December 2023.

"Our new partnership with Cisco will further strengthen the training provided by IDCamp and provide graduates with cybersecurity skills that will open up new career opportunities," said Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.

Apart from that, Sinha also mentioned that this partnership is another important milestone in IOH's larger goal of accelerating Indonesia's digital transformation.

"This is very important as we build cybersecurity capabilities to fully exploit digital economic opportunities. I look forward to seeing the continued impact that Cisco and Indosat will have in Indonesia," said Sanjay Kaul, President Service Provider, Cisco Asia Pacific and Japan.

Cybersecurity will continue to be a priority for the government and businesses in Indonesia. This new cybersecurity training pathway will eventually lead them to training certification and open up new job opportunities such as cybersecurity technician, cybersecurity analyst, and help desk support specialist.
