JAKARTA - To encourage the role of women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), PT Amartha Micro Fintek, the property platform for financial services is inclusive through technology and sustainability principles to launch the Amartha STEAM Fellowship program.

This program is motivated by the lack of women's participation in STEAM, based on the results of a survey by the National Labor Force and UNESCO (2021) where only 3 out of 10 researchers are women.

Through this program, Amartha will provide education and self-development funds for one year for female students who are studying fourth and above at the Strata Satu (S1) or Diploma Empat (D4) level, in the field of STEAM studies.

In collaboration with several well-known universities in Indonesia, including ITB, IPB, UGM, and UB, this program is intended to support women's equality by providing access to quality education and preparing women to be ready to become leaders in fields that suit their ideals.

"Amartha sees the need to encourage the participation of girls to pursue higher levels of education, especially in the fields of science, technology, mathematics and also art," said Aria Widyanto, Amartha's Chief Risk & Sustainability Officer at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 6.

Aria also said that through this scholarship program, scholarship recipients will not only receive educational funding assistance, but will also be equipped with leadership and personal debriefing programs that are believed to be able to create a younger generation with more integrity.

The Amartha STEAM Fellowship program will be run as a pilot project in 2023 by targeting 40 female students to be carried out in the new semester in the coming year.

Students participating in the Amartha STEAM Fellowship program will receive education funds and living expenses of a total of IDR 22 million per year for each student during the program.

They will also be given self-development programs as well as activities to carry out projects in groups and carry out internship experiences to explore life as a professional.

"The Amartha Scholarship Program and Fellowship are designed according to Amartha's commitment as a property platform aimed at creating equitable welfare, and in this case we believe that equitable and sustainable welfare can be driven through quality educational interventions," Aria concluded.
