Fear of being chased on a dark road or through an empty parking lot can prevent you from thinking about how to ask for help. However, iPhone users have recently discovered a less well-known feature that instantly connects them to emergency services.

Users only need to press the top side button five times quickly to access SOS Emergency Calls. This feature will call 911 and share your location information with emergency services and contacts.

This feature was originally introduced to Apple Watch and added to the iPhone with the release of iOS 11, but TikTok users share this option again, finding that this could be an intermediary between life and death.

Another TikTok user, sellingportland503, shared the feature during a recent podcast while noting that being kidnapped was his biggest fear.

"When you click the iPhone power button, it goes into the emergency response system," the user said, quoted by MailOnline. "If you don't press cancel, it automatically calls emergency services."

After you end the call with an emergency service, your iPhone will send a text message to your emergency contacts informing them that you have reached out tochair Next to your phone you will send your current location, and once you enter SOS mode, your emergency contacts will receive an update when your location changes.

Apple announced Emergency SOS via satellite in 2022, allowing iPhone 14 users to send text messages in an emergency beyond the reach of cellular and Wi-Fi.

This service is made possible via 24 Globalstar satellites, where users direct their iPhone to the sky to connect with one of the devices which then conveys their message to the nearest delivery center.

Users open Settings, tap Emergency SOS, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

When you use Emergency SOS via satellite, you can share your Medical ID and notify your emergency contacts.
