JAKARTA - Nigeria invites Nigerian-blooded scientists and leading experts globally who have worked in the country's market to collaborate in the preparation of its National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (AI).

According to Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, which announced on platform X (formerly Twitter), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has started the development of the National AI Strategy.

This action will affect the government's way of formulating new technological solutions to critical national challenges. As a result, the government is expanding its coor-creation strategy by gathering a group of leading AI researchers with Nigerian blood from around the world.

The Nigerian government recognizes that AI has grown into versatile technology, changing production and services and has great potential to influence social progress and economic expansion.

According to a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Artificial Intelligence could contribute USD 15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, with around USD 3 trillion attributed to increased productivity and USD 9.1 trillion coming from new goods and services.

Based on the white paper entitled "Creating with the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy for Nigeria," referred to in the ministerial post, advanced methods are used to find Nigerian-blooded AI researchers who excel, using global AI published data and advanced machine learning models.

Similar to "h-index," a research index was created to find influential Nigerian AI researchers. As the initial research phase ended, the Nigerian government sought public involvement, acknowledged potential errors and aimed at accessing knowledge and collective insight.

Reports from local media suggest that Kashifu Inuwa, director-general of NITDA, has expressed his intention to establish an AI developer community across the country to influence the future of state technology.

He said that the initiative would begin in three states in 2023, followed by strategic planning for its expansion to other states and ultimately to all regions of local government.
