JAKARTA - After recently becoming a rumor, Snapchat officially introduced a selfie feature powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Dreams.

Dreams can turn ordinary selfies into animated works of art with different characters. This feature only requires the user's own face to create up to eight AI selfies.

In addition, users can also invite friends or family to join in selfies that can be taken up to eight times.

"Because we know Snapchatters (the name for Snapchat users) like to invite their friends, Dreams can feature you and any friends who are also participating," Snapchat said in its announcement, quoted Wednesday, August 30.

To try out the Dreams feature, users just have to open the Memories page, then select the Dreams tab. Then take a few selfies, then the user can immediately choose a photo creation from a personalized Generative AI model.

However, this feature can only be used for free eight times, and users can get more with in-app purchases that cost $1 (IDR 15,000).

The feature will first slowly roll out in Australia, New Zealand, and globally over the next few weeks.
