JAKARTA - TON (The Open Network) users will get encrypted message protection through a decentralized blockchain network, even in "apocalypse" conditions, according to the core developer.
The TON Foundation, a non-profit association supporting The Open Network (TON), announced the integration of messenger encryption into their network. This measure aims to increase user privacy by implementing necessary protections in texts sent through transactions.
This new feature uses end-to-end encryption, which ensures that only the sender and recipient can see the message. This increases the level of security for TON users.
According to an official update published by CryptoPotato, it costs about 0.006 Toncoin (TON) to send encrypted messages via TON per transaction. This low price is expected to make the service accessible to the entire growing user base.
Anatoly Makosov, core developer from TON Foundation, commented on this addition. He said, "Now this popular feature - which is not available in most other blockchains - comes with full encryption. Even in the event of an apocalypse and failure on conventional messenger servers, users will still be able to send messages via the decentralized TON blockchain. These messages will delivered reliably and protected via encryption."

Several crypto wallets, as well as standard web and desktop wallets (Windows, MacOS, Linux), have added support for this encryption feature. The TON Foundation also revealed that encryption for messages will be available soon in a future update for the TON mobile wallet and the Tonkeeper wallet.
TON, previously developed by Telegram, is a layer-1 blockchain that has had a tumultuous journey. After Telegram left the project a few years ago, the TON Foundation is running it as a community-led, open-source project. Since then, the TON Foundation has successfully forged several partnerships.
As part of a partnership with DWF Labs, a market maker in the blockchain industry, a USD 10 million (IDR 150 billion) investment was made for the development of TON in November last year.
DWF Labs is envisaged to participate in around 50 seed investment rounds to be executed in the coming months. This funding round aims to accelerate the growth of the TON ecosystem as well as related projects.
In addition, TON has also launched the "TON Accelerator Program" with a fund of USD 25 million (IDR 375 billion). The program aims to invest between USD 50.000 (IDR 750 million) to 250.000 US dollars (IDR 3.7 billion) per project.
