JAKARTA - Samsung Display has again declared war with the BOE Technology Group, one of the screen makers for Apple's iPhone and sued him for five patent violations.

It is known that Samsung Display, which is a business unit of Samsung Electronics, filed a lawsuit against BOE Technology on June 26 to the East District Court of Texas, United States (US).

The company alleges its China-based rival violated five of its patents for the Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display used on mobile devices, including the iPhone 12.

In its lawsuit, Samsung Display called on a federal jury to compensate for patent violations provided by BOE Technology, halting imports and selling affected screens.

"Samsung Display has suffered, and will continue to suffer, irreparable losses as a result of the Patent 599 violation. Defendants who do not have adequate legal remedies, unless the Defendant's violation is ordered by this Court," said Samsung Display in his lawsuit.

Patent 599 contains about improving image quality on devices.

Patent disputes began when Samsung learned there was a mock OLED panel produced by BOE Technology and used as a substitute for the original Samsung OLED screen for the iPhone 12 at several US smartphone repair sites.

There, iPhone 12 users are allowed to choose between Chinese or Samsung imitators screens. In this case, BOE Technology is claimed to have copied four patented OLED technologies.

It is known, Apple has used the OLED screen on several models of Apple Watch and iPhone, including the latest iPhone 14.

Previously, Samsung Display in December 2022 had also filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission (ITC) against wholesale US parts for the use of spare parts and display panels.

BOE Technology is included in the complaint. Samsung Display argues that panels and other parts have been completely based on its advanced OLED patents, including its Diamond Pixel technology.

In a counter lawsuit, BOE Technology filed a lawsuit for patent violation last month against Samsung Display, its Chinese company and China's Samsung Electronics operations to the Chongqing court.

At that time, BOE Technology stated that the South Korean giant had used its technology without permission. This was quoted from the Korea Economic Daily and India Times, Tuesday, July 4.
