JAKARTA - Kaspersky's latest data shows a surge in web threats in Southeast Asia in 2022. Two years ago, Kaspersky discovered 10,200,817 web attacks that infected businesses in Southeast Asia. The number declined slightly in 2021 to 9,180,344. However, it jumped again in 2022 to 13,381,164.

"The large Southeast Asia region, however, needs more help in building their ability to protect their business from cyber attacks," said Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia in Kaspersky in a written statement received by VOI in Jakarta.

The year 2023 will be the first year of border and the market will reopen completely, Yeo encourages companies in the region to allocate budgets and resources in strengthening its cyber defenses from increased attacks targeting their networks.

"While the IT security talent gap remains a problem, outsourcers and comprehensive solutions offer the efficiency that can fill this missing part," he added.

According to Yeo, most of the threats were successfully made due to two main weaknesses, namely human error and technical error. To that end, Kaspersky experts advise companies to build a consistent process of investigation and continuous incident response, maintain and support your IT security capabilities base, and provide your time efficiency and resources appropriately.

To help businesses, global cybersecurity companies have launched the Kaspersky Extended Detection and Response (XDR) platform, a platform that provides internal experts with all advanced technologies, follow-up threat intelligence, and technical skills they need to tackle complex and targeted cyberattacks.

This platform will also enrich a collection of knowledge with threat intelligence and improve expert expertise in your business to handle complex incidents and can ask external experts to conduct assessments, direct support, and backups in the event of an attack.
