JAKARTA - Porsche launched a new on-board charging device for Taycan's electric vehicle (EV) at a price below US$2,000 or around Rp. 31.1 million.

Earlier this year, Porsche released a substantial software update for Taycan EV sporty which provides an increase in charging range and speed.

However, it seems that Porsche continues to provide convenience for its riders. Combined with the new Porsche AC house charger unit, Porsche owners can now recharge their Taycan at a speed nearly twice as fast as the original setting.

Taycan's model currently has an on-board battery charger located behind the front trunk area, but with this new 19.2 kW on-board charging module, Porsche claims to cut its Level 2 charging time from the original nine and a half hours to just under five hours.

"The charging time at 19.2 kW from 0-100% for cars equipped with Performed Battery is 4.8 hours, compared to 9.5 hours for previous chargers," Porsche said in an announcement on its official website.

In addition, Porsche also said, cars equipped with Performance Battery Plus will be able to charge from 0-100% in just 5.3 hours with a new module of 19.2 kW, compared to 10.5 hours.

The module also adds Installation and Resilience capabilities to Taycans 2020, a feature that first arrives in the 2021 model.
