JAKARTA - Indian motorcycle manufacturer TVS Motor will implement a total electrification strategy in which all the vehicles they produce will be available in EV (electric vehicle) models.

President & CEO-TVS Motor Company KN Radhakrishnan stated that the electrification strategy will begin to be processed in the next three years. The first step they took was to increase production of the TVS iQube electric scooter.

"In the next 12 quarters, we have to show (EV) in every segment and we have to proactively accept changes, not wait for other players to enter, then start thinking," said KN Radhakrishnan as reported by Antara from the Economic Times, Sunday, December 18.

"We see EV as a big opportunity not only in India but in developing countries which are export destinations. We are also entering into many developed countries like Europe or the US or Japan or other parts of the world," he said.

As a leak, KN Radhakrishnan explained that TVS will collaborate with BMW "for the global market".

"Along with the partnership with BMW, TVS is also expanding production of the iQube e-scooter," said KN Radhakrishnan, then adding that the electric scooter has accumulated 25 thousand orders until March 2023.

On the other hand, TVS also doesn't forget motorcycles with conventional combustion engines. They still sell motorbikes under the Norton brand but with an upgraded class to be more premium to target more established segments in the Indian domestic market.
