These Eight Influencers Take Advantage Of Twitter And Discord For Share Manipulation, Tipu Hundreds Of Followers!

JAKARTA - Eight social media influencers have been charged with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), United States (US) for committing securities fraud using the platform, Twitter and Discord.

They are PJ Matlock, whose real name is Perry Matlock. He deactivated his Twitter account yesterday, which has more than 340,000 followers.

Other defendants were revealed by the SEC including Edward Constantin, with the username MrZackMorris, Thomas Cooperman, who was called ohheytommy, Gary Deel, who used theuname Mystic Mac or notoriousalers.

Subsequently Mitchell Hennessey, known as Hugh Henne, Stefan Hrvatin, known as LadeBackk and John Rybarcyzk, who used The Stockmen's or Ultra_Calls as usernames.

Although their names are quite foreign, each of them has 100,000 followers on Twitter as well as on other platforms. In fact, the eight influencers often show off their wealth on social media including their sports cars.

Criminal charges have also been filed by the Justice Department of Fraud and the US attorney's office for South Texas. Apart from Twitter and Discord, these influencers also use podcasts to manipulate stock prices.

The SEC revealed that one of the Discord forums under the name Atlas Trading, which has more than 233,000 members, allegedly also serves as the main forum for the scheme.

According to the SEC, seven defendants have promoted shares to hundreds of thousands of their Twitter followers and in the stock trading room in Discord since January 2020.

After potential victims bought stocks, the eight influencers encouraged their followers to do the same, which the SEC said routinely sold their shares without ever disclosing plans to dispose of the securities as they promoted them. This was quoted from NBC News, Thursday, December 15.
