The Samarinda Diskominfo Hopes People Use Digital Media for Productive Activities

SAMARINDA - The use of digital media must continue to be increased to become something productive for the community. The Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) of Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, asked digital media users to recognize their potential to be more productive in order to help prepare human resources (HR) who are superior in utilizing the internet.

"Like Jerome Polin, a student who received a scholarship to study in Japan majoring in Mathematics. He creates daily vlog content in Japan and is liked by the Indonesian people. Starting from making video content, he earns quite a lot of income," said the Head of Information Services Management at Diskominfo Samarinda City Euis Eka Aprilyani in Samarinda, Saturday, October 1.

According to her, this can also be experienced by digital media users in Samarinda if after recognizing their potential, then that potential is used as a digital product while consistently developing that potential.

Related to this, the Samarinda Diskominfo went down to educate the public in Sambutan District on Thursday 29 September. By utilizing digital technology, people can improve the economy according to their respective capacities.

"Digital literacy is the knowledge of a person or user in utilizing digital media. This digital media includes the internet network, communication tools and so on. The purpose of this knowledge is the ability to collect, use and utilize digital media wisely," she explained.

Previously, the Diskominfo Samarinda had conducted education on Digital Literacy Improvement in Samarinda Ulu District.

In addition, there is also the use of digital media in other ways, such as doing business on a platform that offers products and services from many sellers and can be purchased online.

"You don't need to have a strategic place to sell, you can start a business from now on. You don't need to think hard about promotion because there is social media as a place for our promotion," she explained.

Euis Eka Aprilyani also said that the digital literacy improvement program is expected to encourage people to use the internet intelligently, positively, creatively and productively.
