JAKARTA – El Salvador's President, Nayib Bukele announced plans for a meeting with 32 central banks and financial authorities from 44 countries. A meeting will be held in El Salvador to discuss Bitcoin's role in the country's economy.

The leader of the country that adopted Bitcoin delivered his statement via a tweet on Twitter on May 16, 2022.

"Tomorrow, 32 central banks and 12 financial authorities (44 countries) will meet in El Salvador to discuss financial inclusion, the digital economy, unbanked banking, the launch of Bitcoin, and its benefits in our country", Bukele wrote.

Furthermore, the meeting will be attended by representatives from the Central Bank of Paraguay, Bank of Ghana, Central Bank of Madagascar, Bank of the Republic of Haiti, Central Bank of Jordan, and others.

El Salvador is the first country to adopt Bitcoin as an official medium of exchange since September 2021. The country has been in the world's spotlight because of this decision.

El Salvador is not the only country that makes Bitcoin a legal tender. In April 2022, the Central African Republic became the second country to adopt BTC as a means of payment, as reported by The Daily Hodl on May 17, 2022.

The increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies on a global scale was commented on by the former head of blockchain technology company Blockstream and Bitcoin proponent Samson Mow. He stated that in the coming years, other countries will adopt Bitcoin. One of them is Panama.

“Well, it looks like Panama is coming. They are just waiting for the signature of the president to sign the law. It was so unexpected, even the Central African Republic was unexpected. It (the decision to adopt Bitcoin) just came out of nowhere", said Mow.

Furthermore, Mow predicts that other countries will follow in the footsteps of El Salvador and the Central African Republic.
