After 30 Years Of Partnership, EA Officially Separates From FIFA

JAKARTA - Electronic Arts, (EA.O) officially parted ways with world soccer's governing body, FIFA, after nearly 30 years of partnership in the soccer game.

As well as ending the partnership, the decision also put an end to one of the most successful video game franchises in the world, which had already grossed billions of dollars in sales.

According to a Reuters source, EA made a "significant offer" to FIFA for an eight-year exclusivity period across all of FIFA's gaming and esports rights. However, the soccer body doesn't want to lock up all of its game and e-football rights with just one publisher. This is what makes EA less agree.

After officially parting ways, FIFA said it would launch a new soccer game that would be developed by a third-party publisher.

However, FIFA is still granting EA Sport a short-term extension to launch its new title FIFA 23 at the end of this year.

In fact, EA has been giving signs for the past few months about terminating its partnership with FIFA. The company's contract expires after the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

However, the two entities have reportedly adjusted to maintaining the partnership until next summer's Women's World Cup.

EA also said that it will launch an updated version of its soccer game under the name "EA Sport FC" in 2023.
