JAKARTA - Two executives who worked for former US President Donald Trump's social media start-up, Truth Social, have reportedly resigned amid his struggle to shift the Twitter market.
They are Josh Adams, head of technology, and Billy Boozer, head of product development. The two stepped down from their roles less than a year after joining Truth Social.
The reasons behind Adams and Boozer's resignation are not known for certain, nor whether they have been replaced or their duties transferred. It's also unclear whether the two are still working on social media in different capacities after leaving their executive posts.
Their departure comes after their debut in the app for iPhone on February 20, a launch that was met with technical glitches and a 13-hour service outage. A few weeks later, many users remained on the waiting list, but were unable to access the platform.
However, according to The Verge, Tuesday, April 5, the exit of Adams and Boozer is a serious threat to Truth Social, which could jeopardize the company's progress as it tries to prove it can compete with mainstream platforms like Twitter.
Trump himself touted his social networking app shortly after he was banned from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube in January 2021 as a result of the January 6 riots at the US Capitol Building. Trump is suspected of inciting or glorifying violence.
Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes, a former Republican congressman, said publicly that the company aims to make the app fully operational in the US by the end of March.

Like Twitter, the Trump platform offers users the opportunity to connect and share their thoughts.
Even so, the company has apps for iPhone but not for Android phones, which make up more than 40 percent of the US market. The company has also advertised seeking an engineer to build it.
From Sensor Tower data, Truth Social app downloads have dropped dramatically, from 866.000 installs in the week of launch to 60.000 on March 14.
The analytics firm also estimates the Truth Social app has been downloaded 1.2 million times overall, but lags far behind conservative rivals Parler and Gettr with 11.3 million and 6.8 million installs, respectively.
