JAKARTA - Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios mentioned Sony's plan to continue making single-player game titles. This was revealed in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Thursday, March 24.

Hulst said that the company plans to launch 10 live service games by March 2026, and the company has invested in live service games.

"Obviously we'll continue to make these single-player narrative-based games like Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, and Horizon Forbidden West," Hulst said, citing GameSpot.

“But you have seen correctly that we have invested in live service games, because that is very interesting to us. It allows us to build a bigger world, it allows us to create very meaningful social relationships between players,” he added.

Hulst also revealed that the company has several developers or conceptualizations and is preparing everything internally. Having said that, Hulst is happy to welcome a group of people who have a lot of experience with live service games.

"This is really exciting for our service center and technology group. To work with a world-class outfit like Haven, that's great. And it aligns with our strategy of diversifying the types of games we offer to our fan base," said Hulst.

Sony has acquired a number of studios recently, with Haven Studios being the latest to join the PlayStation family. The studio is currently developing a new AAA multiplayer experience for the PlayStation 5.
