JAKARTA - Meta Platforms Inc prohibits Russian state-owned media from making money from content on any of the social networking giant's platforms.

Meta also prohibits Russian state-owned media from advertising.

"We also continue to label additional Russian state-owned media. This change has entered into force and will continue over the weekend," said head of security policy at Meta, Nathaniel Gleicher.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Facebook, one of Meta's platforms, launched an extra security feature to allow users in Ukraine to protect their accounts.

Ukrainian users can lock their accounts so that other people who are not friends with them cannot see activity on the platform.

Twitter, after the Russian invasion, shared how to secure to shutdown accounts.
