JAKARTA – Elon Musk's electric car manufacturer Tesla is reportedly planning to recall more than 50 thousand of its electric vehicles in the United States. The recall was caused by a safety risk. The electric cars to be recalled include the Tesla Model S and X, Model 3, and Model Y.

Reporting from CNBC Indonesia, a total of 53,822 cars with the Beta version of FSD (Full-Self-Driving) software. A number of cars reportedly made rolling stops and did not stop completely at crossroads.

The recall plan was confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which reported that a number of models would be recalled. Especially the 2016-2022 Tesla Model S and X, and 2017-2022 Model 3, and 2020-2022 Model Y.

According to a report from Reuters, NHTSA also stated that the FSD Beta feature makes electric cars run at intersections without first stopping.

They also claim that Tesla plans to provide an update to the over-the-air software that disables the rolling stop function. In discussing potential security and safety problems caused by the system, NHTSA often holds regular discussions with various car manufacturers regarding these issues.

Commenting on the problem, Elon Musk opened his voice by writing a Twitter post. He argues there are no security issues with the function. Musk only confirmed that his electric car only slows down and will continue to run when there are no obstacles.

"Cars will slow down to 2 mph and keep going if there are no cars or pedestrians," the Tesla boss said in a tweet.

Previously, Tesla had conveyed the latest version of the rolling stop feature to NHTSA. The electric car manufacturer also added that to activate it, the car must be at a speed below 5.6 miles (9km) per hour and there are no obstacles in front of it such as cars, pedestrians or cyclists around the intersection.

In addition, Tesla has announced an increase in the number of vehicles using the FSD Beta software in the US to 60,000 last week. Whereas at the end of September 2021, only a few thousand users. Tesla claims to have tested the latest FSD version on the highway. Even so, the authorities stated that this feature does not make the vehicle an autonomous car.
