JAKARTA - One of the automotive manufacturers from China, Great Wall Motor (GWM) is seeking to expand its portfolio to the British market by introducing sub-brand Haval next year.

This step was taken by the manufacturer after they previously introduced the sub-brand Ora in 2022. It was reported that Haval's introduction in the country could provide a wider choice with an overall increase in product offerings.

Launching from Autocar, Sunday, December 15, the first model of this sub-brand to enter the UK market is the Jolion Pro, a medium-sized SUV estimated to be a competitor to Nissan X-Trail and Kia Sorento.

GWM said the model had been successful in several markets, one of which was Australia and believed the product would be suitable for the British market.

In addition, the Haval Jolion Pro model is one proof that GWM is very serious in the hybrid vehicle segment in Europe amid the hectic Chinese manufacturers introducing electric vehicles (EVs) to the blue continent.

"With the introduction of Haval under the GWM umbrella, we can offer customers a gasoline hybrid car at a very competitive price and good specs for those looking to take the first step towards electrification," said GWM UK Managing Director, Toby Marshall.

GWM Haval Jolion Pro is equipped with a 1.5 liter gasoline engine combined with an electric motorcycle combined with seven automatic accelerations, resulting in 188 dk of power and 375 Nm of peak torque.

The manufacturer claims the SUV can travel from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and is claimed to have fuel consumption of only 23 km/l.

The price of the car has not been announced, but the initial price is estimated to be around 30,000 pounds, equivalent to Rp606.6 million.
