BYD Successfully Produces 6 Million Units Of Renewable Energy Vehicles

JAKARTA - BYD, an automotive company from China, recorded significant achievements by successfully producing the 6 millionth renewable energy car (NEV) through assembly lines in Zhengzhou, China.

This manufacturer demonstrated its ability to successfully increase the production capacity of 1 million environmentally friendly vehicles within three months, consisting of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) which experienced rapid growth.

Reporting from Carnewschina, November 24, BYD's 6 millionth car is off-road SUV, Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) Bao 5, which officially launched on November 9 and arrived at the market a few days ago.

This achievement should be noted because BYD took 13 years to achieve the production of 1 million environmentally friendly vehicles since the launch of BYD F3 DM in 2008. Then, the company reached 2 million units in just 12 months and 3 million units in 6 months. BYD then added another 2 million units in 9 months to reach a total of 6 million NEV units produced.

It is known that BYD has stopped production of internal combustion engine (ICE) cars in April 2022 and is only focused on low-emission vehicles, a strategy that has proven successful.

Currently, BYD operates nine passenger car factories across China, which supplies cars to 58 countries, including China.

Back again about FCB Bao 5, or Leopard 5 is an off-road BYD car that carries PHEV technology. With the DMO platform, this car has a length of 4,890 mm, a width of 1,970 mm, a height of 1,920 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,800 mm.

Powered by a combination of 1.5 liters of ICE engines and double electric motors, the FCB Bao 5 is capable of generating power of up to 687 hp and offering a total range of up to 1,200 km according to CLTC. This car is sold for around 289,800 to 352,800 yuan (equivalent to Rp630.3 million to Rp767.3 million).
