JAKARTA - Following in Telsa's footsteps, Volvo has just signed a contract with Italian giga press maker IDRA to install its two biggest press machines at a new location in Slovakia.

The giga press will be used by a 9,000-ton Volvo which is allegedly the same as Tesla's Giga Press 9000 model, which is used to make Cybertruck, quoted from the Teslarati page, Tuesday, November 14.

As is known, Volvo is in the process of building a $1.25 billion plant (in Slovak plant) capable of producing 250,000 electric vehicles per year. Production of next-generation electric vehicles is scheduled to begin in 2026.

"The expertise and their forward-minded approach play an important role in the development and application of Giga Press technology. Collaboration with this brand shows the company's dedication to encouraging progress in the industry," wrote IDRA in its official statement.

Volvo is the latest manufacturer to use the technology, where Ford and Hyundai had previously signed the same deal.

With this collaboration, Volvo hopes to increase the production of its electric vehicles, as well as save other expenses that Tesla has also obtained as a pioneer with this production technique.

News about the IDRA supplying the machine to Volvo emerged not new news, because the manufacturer had planned it from last year.
