Kia Records Positive Sales Of EV6 And Niro EV Models In August 2023 In The US

JAKARTA - Kia achieved another positive score which recorded significant sales compared to the previous year.

During August 2023, Kia achieved sales figures of 72,147 vehicles in the US. Not only an increase of 9 percent from the previous year, but this is the largest sales period of this South Korean automotive brand.

Reporting from InsideEVs, Sunday, September 3, sales contribution also came from the battery electric power (BEV) model. In fact, sales in this segment rose 100 percent compared to the previous year. Unfortunately, Kia did not give the exact figure.

During the August period, Kia sold 2,449 EV6 units in the US, an increase of 33 percent from the previous year in the same period. Kia EV6 accounts for 3.4 percent of total sales.

Likewise with the Kia Niro EV model which recorded quite good sales. Although the manufacturer does not provide information regarding the sales figures, it is estimated that Niro has sold more than 1,600 units, including the ICE model.

Kia America's Vice President of Sales Operations, Eric Watson, said that the sale of more than 70,000 vehicles is proof that Kia has superior models or products that are in great demand thanks to the technology and innovations offered.

"The offers of Kia's electric cars combined with our sturdy and capable SUVs have strategically positioned this brand, not only to increase our electric vehicle market share, but also to further strengthen ourselves as leaders in innovative mobility," said Watson.

Overall, during 2023, Kia sold as many as 537,410 units, an increase of 16.4 percent from the previous year with 12,000 units of which resulted from EV6 sales.

Kia Niro EV also reached a fairly good sales figure during 2023, reaching more than 6,600 units. Although, sales decreased by 3 percent compared to the previous year in the same period.

The South Korean manufacturer is optimistic that it will close the year with an increase in sales of electric vehicles from the previous year. For information, KIA EV6 has sold 20,498 and Niro EVs totaling 8,209 in the US for 12 months in 2022. Total sales of these electric vehicles reached 28,700 units.

Sales of Kia electric vehicles in the US will also be assisted by one of the models that will arrive at the end of 2023, namely EV9, as a three-line SUV.
