JAKARTA - The Indonesian jazz fusion trio, MANNA in collaboration with record label Demajors has launched a physical release for its debut album titled Sipat which was first introduced last September.

If initially the album 'Sipat' could only be enjoyed on digital music platforms, now a physical album is present as a collectable item in the form of a compact disc (CD).

Meanwhile, this album contains six tracks with a total duration of 36 minutes, namely Winter Spring, Travel to Eastern, Far Away, Walking in a New Street, Sipat, and Halu.

The album 'Sipat' offers a flexible combination between three generations of musicians in the form of fusion jazz-style music with original composition. This trio consists of Achmad Ananda (guitar), AS Mates (bass), and Dharrian Emillio (drums).

Mates with Nanda called Achmad Ananda has been playing together since 2000, when they regularly appear at the Four Seasons hotel with Idang Rasjidi. Then, they made a jazz duo with the name Mates N Nanda in 2006.

A year later, they accepted the invitation to play at Java Jazz and appeared as a trio with Mates' son, young drummer Jessi Mates. That's when the name of MANNA was first used.

From the start, we always played our own composition, but never seriously recorded it, just a group of live demos. That's why it's only now an official release, Sipat," said Nanda in her statement, Tuesday, March 18.

However, Jessi Mates' time for MANNA was increasingly limited along with her rising career, until it was finally decided to invite Dharrian Emilio a young and talented Mates kid to fill the drum position.

"Emil has been playing music with Balawan since he was in junior high school in 2017. Two years later, I started to guide him, until finally working together at MANNA," said Mates.

Although MANNA has had many original compositions since 2007, the material on the album Sipat is entirely a new composition made by Mates and Nanda with Dharrian Emilio.

"I am very interested in the combination between Mates and Nanda who is senior, and Emil, who at that time was still under 20 years old. I recorded them during training, as they are. They are very productive, there is even material for four albums," concluded Canga Anton as the producer.
