JAKARTA - British vehicle company Mini is one of the automotive manufacturers that will switch to electrification. This has been proven since the launch of Mini Electric in 2020. However, Mini's adventures in this segment don't just stop there.

Following the plan of the parent company, BMW Group, Mini intends to bring in more electric vehicles. The two ranks that will be introduced in the near future are the EV ranks of Mini.

Reporting from InsideEVs, Monday, August 28, Mini released a teaser from the two models known as Mini Cooper EV and Mini Countryman EV. Both models will launch on September 1.

In the teaser shown by Mini, it gives a big picture of this model later. It is reported that Cooper EV was built on the Spotlight platform, so this model offers a longer wheelbase.

Although it offers a wider wheelbase and is relieved to support the battery and electric drive, the length of the Mini Cooper EV has not changed much, which is about 3,800 mm the same as conventional engine versions.

The basic variant of this model, namely Cooper E, uses a 40 kWh battery by producing a range of about 386 km in a full battery state. While the highest type, Cooper SE gets a battery package of 54 kWh, although its distance has not been disclosed.

Each trim also provides electric motors that have their own reliability. Cooper E is equipped with a single electric motor with 181 dk. As for Cooper SE, it has 215 dk of power from its electric motor.

Some time ago, Mini also revealed a simpler interior part of the Cooper EV with a circular screen in the middle of a dashboard that has become a hallmark of a manufacturer that functions as an infotainment and instrument.

As for Mini Countryman EV, it will share a platform with iX1. The bottom trim has a 54 kWh battery pack. While the highest trim, SE ALL4, will carry a 64 kWh battery.

The basic trim from Countryman EV will be equipped with a single electric motorcycle of 188 dk. Meanwhile, for SE ALL4 it is equipped with a double electric motorcycle which is placed on the front and back each by generating up to 308 dk of power.

Both Cooper EV and Countryman EV are expected to get the John Cooper Works variant, both of which will have additional power compared to other trims.

Released in early September, these two EV models will be part of the line that BMW Group will bring to the IAA Mobility Show which takes place in Munich, Germany. It will also debut the i Vision Dee concept built on the Neue Classe platform.
