JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) facilitates the delegation of Indonesian film actors who will participate in the 2023 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) which will take place on October 4-13, 2023. This facilitation is carried out in an effort to strengthen the Indonesian film ecosystem.

Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim explained that in recent years his ministry has collaborated with Indonesian film actors to build strategies and ecosystems that deserve to support the achievements and presence of filmmakers and Indonesian works on the world stage.

"We have made various fundamental efforts to improve the quality of the film ecosystem. For example, there is a non-degree scholarship facilitation for film actors; and the Indonesian Fund which I launched as the 18th Freedom of Learning Episode, is now open to international film co-production funds," explained the Minister of Education and Culture from a media broadcast obtained by VOI, Monday, October 2.

At BIFF 2023, there are 15 titles by Indonesian filmmakers that will compete and be shown in the Indonesia Renaissance of Indonesian Cinema cinema focus program. The 15 titles consist of short films, feature films, and series.

There are two Indonesian films that are included in the competition program, consisting of one feature film and one short film, namely the long film by Yosep Anggi Noen entitled 24 Hours with Gaspar competing in the Jiseok program. Meanwhile, the films and series that will be shown in the Renaissance of Indonesian Cinema program are the Kretek Girls series (Kamila Andini & Ifa Isfansyah).

Seeing this as a major player, Reza Rahadian and Laura Basuki expressed their feelings when they found out that their film could be chosen to this international festival. Reza hopes that this happiness can be felt not only the team and players involved but also by the people who watch.

"Yes, it must be happy, happy. And this year, as previously said, Busan gave an extraordinary recognition for Indonesian films as well as a separate pride and participated in the 24 Hours film with Gasspar in the competition, none other than hopefully not only for us involved in it but also for the Indonesian film world, of course the answer is happy," said Reza Rahadian in Sudirman, South Jakarta, Monday, October 2.

Likewise, Laura Basuki, already has hope to be able to work with director from Yoseph Anggi Noen and other production teams to become an honor for her. Then the film can be selected to the Busan International Film Festival to add Laura's joy.

"If I myself must be very happy. Because at first when I received this project it was simple because I wanted Anggi Noen's cooperation to work together with Reza, so when this film received more appreciation, I was very happy to be able to celebrate this film together in Busan," continued Laura.

Busan International Film Festival is the annual international festival which is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. BIFF was first held in 1996. This year's holding is the 28th. BIFF is also the first international film festival in Korea.
